1. HERSHEY BEARS
Updating from last week, Norfolk stopped Hershey's win streak at 12 games. However, as of Monday, Hershey picked up where it left off. Notching wins of 10-4 over Albany, 7-2 over Wilkes Barre/Scranton and 4-3 over Syracuse, the Bears have now won 15 of 16 games and have built up a 16-point lead over second-place Albany.

2. UNDEFEATED DIVISIONAL TEAMS
As of Sunday, these teams were undefeated in their divisions: Harrisburg boys' basketball at 8-0, 12-1 overall, Harrisburg Christian boys' basketball at 2-0, 4-6, Susquehanna Twp. boys' swimming [4-0, 5-0] and Central Dauphin wrestling [5-0, 10-0].

3. BOYS' BASKETBALL
Over-20 point club for the past week:
39 -- Desi Washington, in 62-56CD win over Chambersburg. Also reached career 1,000-point plateau.
21 -- Ryan Corrigan, as Bishop McDevitt defeated Steel-High 53-51.
26 -- Ryan Corrigan, McDevitt over Central Dauphin 66-63.
23 -- Desi Washington, CD loss to McDevitt 66-63.
29 -- Ryan Hill, in a Steel-High loss to Harrisburg 82-68.
24 -- Devin Thomas, led CD in a 64-60 OT loss to Harrisburg.
24 -- Ryan Hill, in Steel-High's win against Cedar Cliff, 75-70.
24 -- Corbin Bower, led Harrisburg Christian to a 48-41 win over Lititz Christian.
22 -- Ryan Corrigan, in a 71-67 McDevitt loss to Milton Hershey.

4. GIRLS' BASKETBALL
Over-20 point club for the past week:
31 -- Malia Tate-DeFreitas, against Susquenita, aided Steel-High in a 63-59 win.
23 -- Alyssa Thomas, helped CD beat McDevitt 72-37.
23 -- Alyssa Thomas, led CD to another victory by beating Harrisburg, 52-50.
22 -- Sabre Proctor, for Harrisburg against CD.
20 -- Alyssa Thomas, in CD's 68-38 win over Chambersburg.

5. CD EAST HEAD FOOTBALL COACH NAMED
Brian Bowman was recently named as the Panthers' 12th football coach. Bowman has coaching experience at Susquehanna Twp., in Arizona, and spent last year as a CD East assistant. He was selected by a unanimous 9-0 vote by the Central Dauphin school board.

6. HARRISBURG HORIZON BASKETBALL TEAMS
The Lady Horizon will be taking on the Baltimore Stars at 2 p.m. this Sunday at the Kimber Gym of Harrisburg High School. Coached by Hilary Waltman, the ladies went 7-5 in her first season last year and went to the WEBA championship, where they lost to the Delaware Lady Destroyers. Waltman is a physical education teacher and basketball coach at Lancaster Country Day School. Following the women's game, the Horizon will take the court at 4 p.m. The men's team will be challenged by the Hampton Road Cardinals. First-year coach Jamal Palmer is currently an assistant coach at Pitt-Johnstown.

7. CASA INDOOR SOCCER REGISTRATIONS
The CASA indoor recreational program at Sports City started last Saturday. This week will be a second practice week with matches starting Jan. 23 and continuing for eight more Saturdays. There are still open slots in the following age groups: Boys, U6, U8, U10 and U12. Girls, U7, U8, U12. Contact the CASA office for further details.

8. CASA CAPA 91 WINS TAMPA BAY SUN BOWL
On Jan. 2, the CASA CAPA 91 U-18 boys won youth soccer's Tampa Bay Sun Bowl by defeating the Leg A Z Caiman from Gainesville, Fla. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and went to penalty kicks. CAPA keeper Josh Linaweaver was able to stop two of the six PKs he faced, then finished the deal by taking a PK. He stepped up to the ball and put it in the back of the net to win the tournament. Josh was named match MVP by the tournament officials. In the preliminary rounds, CAPA beat teams from Clarkstown [NY] 2-1, Dunedin [Fla.] 2-0, and tied Valrico [Fla.] 1-1. In the semifinal, CAPA got a rematch with Maitland Arsenal, a team from outside of Orlando that knocked CAPA out of the tournament in 2008. CAPA won the game 5-1 to set up the final with Leg A Z.

9. HACC MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Harrisburg Area Community College men's basketball team is 8-4 with a three-game win streak. Wins have come against Lehigh-Carbon Community College 86-73, Luzerne County Community College 77-61 and Johnson College 77-70.

10. HACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
The HACC women's basketball team is 2-9 after winning its game against Luzerne County Community College by a 67-51 score.
