So, one of my previous posts was grumpy, so I have to balance it out with a positive one.

As a tourist destination, I think London is brilliant... you can see so many interesting and varied things in a single day, and many of them are "free" if you don't count your travel, food and voluntary donations to the museums.

If you have a nice long day, I recommend a nice long walk along the River Thames:

1. Start at Westminster Bridge - from there you can see the Houses of Parliament and the Embankment.
2. Cross over to the South Bank; this is the side with the London Eye - a huge glass capsule ferris wheel, from where you can see great views over Westminster on a clear day.
3. Follow the river downstream, and it will take you past the National Theatre and some other brutal grey concrete buildings that probably seemed like a good idea at the time they were built. Under one of the bridges, you will often find second hand book stalls where you can browse for that Tom Clancy or Jackie Collins you have been searching for.
4. Continue down the river, and look for Oxo Building, which has a few interesting overpriced design shops.
5. Next you will have to go under Blackfriars Bridge, and you will come out at the Tate Modern, a brilliant modern art museum that is in an old disused Power Station. As you walk down the ramp, you will enter a huge space in what used to be the turbine hall... the exhibition in this section of the gallery changes regularly, so you should always drop in to see what is happening if you have a spare 15 minutes and are passing. You can then head upstairs to look at the pictures, and I always find this enjoyable. This is mostly free, but some exhibitions cost extra, and even if you only see the free bits, it's a nice idea to drop some money in the donation box, so that they can spunk it on some more wankish modern art for you to look at next time. After all, Tracy Emin and Damien Hirst need money to eat.
6. Come out of the museum and head back to the river bank. Look at the new bridge ("the famous wobbly bridge"), it's worth walking halfway out across the bridge to get a good look at St Pauls Cathedral. But you must come back to the South Bank - this is a South Bank tour, after all.
7. Other things that you will pass as you walk along the river bank: as a full scale replica  of the Golden Hind, the famous ship that my parent's local pub is named after; a full scale replica of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre; the original Clink prison
8. As you approach London Bridge, you may be lucky enough to see Borough Market open on your right... if it is open, go in and have a look - lots of small food stalls, selling strange foods from around the world... there is always a yummy lunch to be had from somewhere in here.
9. After London Bridge (which, despite the playground rumours, is not falling down), it gets a bit boring, but you can walk past the HMS Belfast, with it's crazy camoflage paint... make sure to look carefully or you may miss it. Eventually you will come out near the new City Hall building, where there is often an open air exhibition of some kind outside in the round space outside.
10. You will have arrived at Tower Bridge; you can cross over from here, and then you are outside the famous Tower of London, where people used to be locked up and stuff.

Jersey, one of the Channel Islands (unlike Jersey, USA) is a small island, but beautiful, perfect for a short break.

The island is located in the south of France (St Malo is less than 4 miles away and visible on a clear day), and so, while still part of the British Empire, enjoying the weather much better.

This time is not only a great place for camping, beach and outdoor activities, but also have a wealth of plants and seeAnimals are not usually seen on mainland Britain. More noteworthy is the only British population of the lizard, which are often called Jersey Green Lizard precisely for this reason. On approximately one meter in length, and males have a bright blue throat, but they are certainly a wonderful (if rare) look. Red squirrels are still here to see the eyes of an eagle and dolphins are often during the summer months.

Speaking of beaches, while the island measures only a few kilometers alongThere are beaches for every occasion. Long sandy beaches perfect for surfing, more protected, "Sun bathers wild beaches and cliffs in the breeding birds. There are also some caves, which appear only at low tide.

You can come by ferry or plane to Jersey and is supported by a safe harbor in St. Helier, or serve an airport on the western side of the island.

Escape from the attractive, but the capital of St Helier courage, the northern half of the 'island for the "real"Jersey experience. Rolling fields full of Jersey cows, thick cream tasty. Farmers' fields green with the tips of Jersey Royal - the best new potatoes around. Greenhouses full of flame red tomatoes. Laybys Fingerhut and meadows scattered and the deep blue sea. There are also castles and fishing coves filled to enjoy.

Jersey has a low national speed limits, lots of narrow tracks and a "no caravan" rule makes it an ideal place for walking or cycling, and an effectiveLocal bus service covers the entire island. Explore this small island is so safe, practical and incredibly funny.

Other things can be seen here, the underground tunnels used by the Nazis during the war (the Channel Islands are further north, such as the invasion) and the famous Durrell Wildlife Preservation Trust (or simply "Jersey Zoo!). Here that a boy in the well gorillas many years ago was the shock of their parents. I live, but the fear, rather thanis attacked, the boy was kept and cared for by keepers and gorillas have been able to extract it safely.

Personally, I like the stock, although there are many hotels around him (self-contained accommodation less), an international standard. As a tax haven, Jersey has a rich business people, private jets and Ferraris that Great Britain, Monaco. English is spoken, you drive on the left side, and use the pound. There is a nice "French" style feelHomes, many French place names and the excellent quality of food here - especially the seafood.

The Channel Islands and Guernsey, Alderney and Sark, all this can be accomplished by any of the inter-island boat services operate during the summer months, and day trips to France between now easy to organize.
